About

Missoula Handicraft and Art Center is dedicated to building a place for artists of all levels to commune, create, and explore art.

MHAC is the product of Brandi Jessup and Rachel Calderon-Navarro. Brandi, a ceramicist, and Rachel, a painter, found that after leaving art school, they lost access to many resources and facilities. MHAC’s goal is to provide a space where artists can work with tools and facilities we’ve been missing since school, and create alongside a community of working artists.

MHAC wants artists to be able to learn new skills and develop their craft. We’re currently operating in a pop-up capacity, as we build toward a permanent space. In the meantime, MHAC will be hosting workshops, critique sessions, and show openings, all with the goal of connecting artists, building skills, and selling work.

We believe that art can come in many forms, including handicraft. We want to empower and uplift all artists, both inside and outside of the formal “Fine Art” category. Handicraft plays an important role in culture and history, and it is essential to a comprehensive artistic community.

Missoula Handicraft and Art Center is a for-profit organization. We are transparent in our mission and finances, and we pay artists and employees well. If you’d like to support MHAC, please check out the art sold here!
